NICK SCHOFIELD is a musician and producer with a degree in Electroacoustic Studies from Concordia University. He is an engaged community-oriented collaborator working with artists on stages and in studios across Canada. As a solo musician, Nick Schofield releases instrumental “environmental music” via Backward Music label. His calming compositions beckon for tranquility and release, offering softness and simplicity. His sophomore album Glass Gallery (2021) channels inspiration from the architecture and artwork of the National Gallery of Canada. Commenting on this work, Le Devoir wrote “Schofield creates benevolent melodies, skilfully orchestrated with the means of the synthetic edge.” In concert, Nick Schofield has performed at National Sawdust in New York City, Getty Center in Los Angeles, and Place des Arts in Montreal.
JONI VOID is the musical persona of Jean Néant, a shapeshifting artist based in Montréal, QC via Lille, FR, formerly known as johnny_ripper. A self-taught artist, creating what they call “cinéma-tek & cameratronica” music – the sound-world of Joni Void revolves around montage-based sound rather than instrumental composition, with a singular and compelling avant-garde style incorporating elements of ambient/drone, minimalism, rap and hip-hop beats, psychedelia, glitch, and musique concrête with influences from the experimental film world. The project extends into various collaborations, label releases & live events via Jean Néant’s own platform Everyday Ago.
